Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
The pain in eyes has many causes, one of them being a severe
cough. This is due to the raised pressure/
stress to the eye and its muscles while coughing.
To have investigations done (CBC, sputum test, x-ray chest), pinpoint the cause, and have specific treatment with expert consultation is the way to treat the cause. Cough mixture with diphenhydraminel/
codeine will give symptomatic relief till then.
To have a complete ophthalmic check-up (for infection/abrasion/refractory error/
glaucoma) is also worth to exclude any problems that may produce pain.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale
