Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Eye Yellowness And Stomach Pain When Bilirubin Levels Are Elevated?
I had bilirubin levels of 2.4 yesterday and 3.1 today. I m at the ER and the doctor says my eyes look a little yellow but she s sending me off with a referral to see a gastroenterologist. It s Friday night and I m worried these levels are already high, from the tests they are increasing and that something potentially dangerous may be happening. The doctor is brisk with me. I have headaches and stomach pain, fatigued dry feeling eyes. Thanks for your input.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Your bilirubin level is slightly elevated and it might have gone further up now. What about SGOT and SGPT values. Most probably it might be a viral hepatitis. Do repeat liver function test and HAV IgM antibody test to confirm viral hepatitis. Drink plenty of water to keep your self hydrated. Consult a gastroenterologist and he will direct you accordingly.
Wishing you good health.
Thanks.
