What Causes Facial Numbness And Spasms Along With Fatigue?

I AM ASKING SOME QUESTIONS ON BEHALF OF MY DAUGHTER WHOM I AM VERY CONCERNED. WE HAVE GONE THROUGH A SIERES OF DOCTORS AND ISSUES THAT HAVE BEEN INCREASING OVER THE PAST 5 YEARS. MY 27 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER HAS FACIAL NUMBNESS, AND SPASMS, FATIGUE, LOW T SCORES FOR HER THYROID, BUT WITH IN RANGE, SHE HAS GAINED 70 POUNDS OVER THE LAST 3 YEARS. SHE HAS KEPT TRACK OF HER FOOD INTAKE KEEPING HER CALORIES AT 1800 OR LESS, AND WORKS OUT 3-5 DAYS A WEEK, AND HAS A VERY ACTIVE LIVE STYLE. SHE HAS SOME MENTAL FOG AT TIMES, AND HEART RACING AND IS EXHAUSTED MUCH OF THE TIME. SHE HAS PUSHED THROUGH IT. SHE WAS TREATED AT ONE TIME FOR WHAT WE WERE TOLD WAS A MASS IN HER BRAIN, THE DOCTOR SHOWED IT TO US ON A SCAN, AND HAD HER DO MRI S ANNUALLY AFTER TO MONITOR THE MASS AND WAS MEDICATING HER FOR WHAT WE WERE TOLD WERE SEIZERS. WE WERE TOLD AFTER HER SLEEP STUDY THAT WAS DONE SHE WAS HAVING 15 - 20 AN HOUR ~ THIS DOCTOR RETIRED AND WE WERE TOLD BY THE REPLACING PHYSICIAN THAT THERE WAS NO MASS, SHE WAS NORMAL AND WHEN WE ASKED FOR ALL OF THE RECORDS THERE WERE NO NOTES BY THE DOCTOR AT ALL. THE SLEEP STUDY WAS NOT IN THE FILE AND THE TECH NOTES ON THE SCAN HAD STATED AFTER THE SECOND SCAN THAT NO FURTHER SCANS WERE RECOMMENDED AS THEY APPEARED TO BE NORMAL. SHE WAS ON A MIGRAINE MED, THAT WE WERE TOLD WAS ANTI SIEZER MED. SHE HAS NOT BEEN OFF OF THE MED COMPLETELY FOR THE PAST YEAR AFTER HAVING BEEN ON IT FOR 3 YEARS. WE HAVE BEEN TOLD TO HAVE SEVERAL BLOOD TESTS, ALERGY TESTS THAT HAVE SHOWN SOME FOOD ALLERGIES, AND SOME DIET CHANGES WERE MADE BUT THIS HAS NOT RESULTED IN ANY CHANGES. SHE HAS BEEN TOLD WHEN DOCTORS CAN T EXPLAIN HER SYMPTOMS THAT THEY CAN FIND NOTHING WRONG, AND LEAD HER TO BELIEVE IT IS ALL IN HER HEAD. THIS HAS BEEN VERY DEFEATING AND EXHAUSTING. SHE EATS VERY HEALTHY, IS VERY ACTIVE 27 YEAR OLD WOMEN 5 10 AND HER WEIGHT HAS NOW CREPT TO 230. SHE IS ACTIVE, EATING A VERY HEALTHY DIET, VERY WELL ADJUSTED AND STRONG. WE NEED SOMEONE TO POINT US IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION FOR HELP.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As there is facial numbness and spasms , it definitely concerns with the underlying previous neurology insult with mass and seizure episodes. I would like to address couple of things which can guide more precisely to you:
- Whether there was any medicine change of molecule or dose in recent period before appearance of facial spasms
- Are you having current scan results available
- Dietary deficiency may be at fault with 1800 calorie intake and excess exercises to burn the calories

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
