What Causes Facial Numbness?

I am very concerned about my boyfriend, who has just recently had an abundance symptoms come up and we can` t seem to figure out what is wrong. On Jun 18th he had some lunch at work and shortly after, his face went numb(like a dentist had frozen his mouth)and there was a lump, it went away after about an hour. on June 19th, we were having dinner and a short time after, his face went numb,his throat swelled up and was very tight feeling, he felt like his head was congested. He went to sleep.(He has a history of allergies, he used to be allergic to bees and peanut butter, but the allergy went away.) On June 21st he went to a walk-in clinic to find out what was happening, they said it might be an allergy, /and prescribed him an epi. pen. On June 21st he went to see his family doctor to find out what was happening, his doctor decided immediately that she did not want to do an allergy test because he has an arrhythmia. So she focussed on this in the time he was there, did some blood work, and an EKG. From the June 23rd-28th,he had some headaches, nausea and diarrhea also the numbness in the lips with discolor. On the 29th he woke in the day with a headache, numbness in the lips, and had a tight burning feeling(like heartburn)in his chest. He continued to work through the day, when he got home round 5pm he had a nap, because of the discomfort. After a nap we had dinner, then continued to relax and prepare for bed. At about 9:30 the discomfort in his chest had increased, he also had a headache, felt nauseous and also some sudden flu like symptoms, a cough. At about 10:30 he started to feel numb down his left arm and a tingling in his fingers on the left hand, and the numbness went down his left side of his body, there were some muscle spasms. We went the hospital, and they were inconclusive. On June 30th he felt some numbness on his face and also in his left and and in his fingures. Today on the 1st of July he is experiencing some flu like symptoms, a cough, runny nose and also an earache.
