What Causes Facial Pain On The Left Side After Taking Sulfamethoxazole?

I was prescribed sulfamethoxazole TMP DS tablet for an UTI. 1 1/2 hours after I took my second tablet the left side of my face began to hurt do I need to seek medical care now or will this go away and just contact my dr when the clinic opens, opens about 4 hours from now.

Thanks for the query..

Pain on face after taking Sulphamethoxazole is not commonly seen, however if there is swelling or other symptoms associated with pain then it can be due to allergic reaction..
For now take Tylenol to relieve pain..
But in case if the pain does not subside then you need to consult an Emergency room and get evaluated..
You should also stop taking the antibiotic till the cause for pain is ruled out..
If the symptoms are due to side effect of antibiotic then you can take other alternates for UTI like Norfloxacin or Nitrofurantoin..
