What Causes Failure Of The Replaced Knee?

My husband has has acl reconstuction in both knees. One has failed adn at 43 he is too young for a knee replacement. He has been offered an osteotomy, but is reluctant. I have read about vicosupplementation - doyou think this would be helpful? Thank you
