What Causes Faint Insect Like Sound On Side Of Face?

I am a 64 year old female. For the last three weeks off an on when I retire for the night, when it is quiet, I can hear very very faint sounds coming from my front facial area near my mouth and nose. The sound is like an animal or insect crying. Sometimes the sound is like a faint ticking sound. I just had a cat scan done and waiting for results. This sound is driving me crazy. I only hear the sound at night while lying on my back.

Hi Dear ,

As per your query you have faint sound comming fron your frontal face . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like :-

- Bell's palsy .
- Nasal polyp .
- Sinusitis .
- Tinnitus .

I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper examination . Doctor may order imaging tests like CT scan , blood test , nasal endoscopy and nasal culture test to confirm the diagnosis . Doctor may prescribe antibiotics ( amoxicillin ) at least for a week along with decongestant and expectorant . Doctor may also recommend surgery for nasal polyp or may refer you to neurologist in case of bell's palsy . I would suggest you to apply warm compresses on face aand take steam twice a day .
