What Causes Faint Positive Line In UPT After Abortion?

Hi,My name is Nina from Nigeria. I had an abortion in March and tested faintly positive on pregnancy tests up to 6 weeks after the abortion. Then in June, my period began on the 15th and ended on the 20th.i had sex on the 20th and took postinor 2 on the 21st,about 10 hours later. Barely 3weeks later I feel nausea, bloated and have vaginal discharge. I took a pregnancy test and it still was faintly positive. The doctor advised that I repeat the test after two weeks. My question is, could I be pregnant?, because I had sex during my safe period, and could the faint positive pregnancy test be as a result of the first pregnancy?. My period for July is due on the 15th so am not sure if am pregnant or not. I am really worried.

Hello,
I have gone through your query and understood the concern. If you had a complete abortion earlier, the pregnancy test would read positive for up to 3-4 weeks later. After that you cannot expect a positive test from that pregnancy. With a natural period, sexual intercourse 5 days after a menstrual cycle should fall in the safe period, even with a 25-day cycle. It is more likely that your test may be falsely positive. You can get better clarification through the blood test for pregnancy in the current scenario. Your symptoms could also be due to the hormone content in the pill. Hope you find this information useful. Take care.
