What Causes Fainting Followed By Mumbling And Low Potassium?

I fainted a few weeks ago but there were times when I could hear people trying to wake me but I couldn’t move or talk. I did have a few drinks prior but was NOT intoxicated. All my friends can testify to that. I have drank before and so it wasn’t like I wasn’t used to it. I also ate dinner. Contrary to this, the hospital said my BAC was .223 which is impossible! Before I fainted my friends said I was mumbling and talking gibberish. No one believes me and have chalked it up to me being intoxicated. All tests have come back normal besides my potassium was a little low but my doctor said not low enough to make me faint. I was told my blood pressure in the hospital was low which is odd since the past week I have been checking it and it has actually been on the high side and all over the board. I am going to get my records shortly so I can see for myself what the results were. Any thoughts?

My thoughts are that you indeed were intoxicated. You said you had "a few" drinks beforehand. A few drinks could have easily raised your BAC to .223. Depending on how closely together you drank them, your level could have shot up very high and caused you to pass out, and at .223 it was actually coming down. Your blood pressure in the hospital was low because this is usually happens when you faint. It is normal to be changing all the time, so the fact that it's been on the high side now doesn't mean anything. The mumbling and talking gibberish also sounds like you were acutely intoxicated. I think you really need to take a close honest look at yourself and ask if you are an alcoholic. You are currently in a strong state of denial which is classic for an alcoholic.
