What Causes Fainting Spell Followed By Extreme Confusion Post Trauma?

I passed out today after banging my knee on a trailer hitch on my husbands truck. When it happened, I was in so much pain, couldn t speak and I felt like I was going to vomit. About a minute later after atenpting to walk into the house, I passed out for a minute and woke up extremely confused. What could have caused this?
