What Causes Fast Heart Rate After Having Antacids?

I am 50 and on Lisinopril 40 mg and Nifedipine 90 mg. I am also diabetic. (Metformin & Glyburide) I awoke with stomach burn a few minutes ago took two anticids and noticed that my heart was racing a bit. Checked my BP and read 111/69 or there about over a half hour period. Just prior to going to bed I had extreme soreness in my shoulder muscles. Could this all be connected?

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Antiacids are not normally associated with an increase in heart rate, it is not a known side effect.

It is possible, if the burning discomfort was severe, that the pain may have contributed to any change in heart rate.

If the problem persists then you may need to visit your doctor for an evaluation with would include history , physical assessment, an ECG to check the rate and rhythm of the heart and blood tests.

Blood tests to check the thyroid and hemoglobin level are done with a history of palpitations.

I hope this helps
