What Causes Fast Heart Rate While Urinating?

On occassion, while urinating my heart rate spikes, my body gets stiff and it feels like I am about to pass out (I have actually fainted once). Once I am finished, things go back to normal. can you help me understan what is happenging and action that I need to take to address it?

Hi,

This is likely due to vasovagal reflex. Due to excessive straining while urinating there is activation of vagus nerve leading to low BP and all symptoms. Avoid straining too much. Dehydration should be avoided. Get done an ultrasound for prostate if there is difficulty in urinating.
