What Causes Fast Heartbeat While Sleeping?

When I sleeping over at a friends house they noticed that I was breathing really fast and then I would stop breathing for a few seconds. They also said my heart was beating really fast but this also happens to me through out the day. I have also blacked out for a few seconds while I am at work. Should I be worried??
