Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I occasionally will develop a rapid heartbeat for no apparent reason. It is a light, fast beat with NO feelings of light-headedness, nausea, etc. I then have an urge to cough, which usually makes everything fine again. I am 42, female in good health, slim, who exercises regularly. This has been going on for years.
Thanks for posting your concern in HCM. From the history, it looks sinus tachycardia or PSVT. This is a good sign that you did not have light-headedness, nausea etc. But, I would recommend you to check your pulse and BP and do a 24 hr Holter monitoring to rule out a more serious arrhythmia. Also, I would suggest you to have blood for TSH done to rule out a thyroid problem. Best wishes.
