What Causes Fatigue Along With Fever And Vomiting?

Thank you Doctor. My husband is not feeling well. His symptoms started with fatigue yesterday. This afternoon he felt sick to his stomach, is now running a low fever...99.9, has vomited and stomach feels tight and bloated. No appetite....and is miserable. I should tell you he is 93 years young and not use to being sick. My email address is YYYY@YYYY .

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Based on the symptoms described, he likely has a viral illness of the gastrointestinal tract. Bacterial infection can also cause these symptoms but this is not as common.

In most cases, the symptoms last a few days only (less than a week), but this may vary from one person to the next.

Treatment involves: (1)holding off all solid food till there is a 4 hour window with no symptoms.

When this time frame passes, he can start with small amounts of dry foods such as toast or biscuits or plain rice.
Banana is also sometimes used.

(2)fluids- he needs to replace any fluids that he is losing. This can be done with an oral hydration fluids available at his pharmacy.
Sips should be used, if he uses large amounts, he would vomit

(3)pepcid or zantac would help with the bloating

(4)peptobismol and probiotics would also likely help as well

I hope this helps
