What Causes Fatigue Along With Light Headedness And Tingling Sensation?

My 16 year old daughter has been feeling fatigued for about a month. This week she has been having episodes where she gets ill. She describes it like if I accidentally took too much Ny-Quil . She feels lightheaded with tingling extremities. She gets very shaky. Her stomach feels upset. Her head feels like she can t focus and it s unpleasant, but not painful. She vomited today at the end of the episode.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

It looks like she is suffering from vasovagal syncope, hypoglycemia, hypotension or dehydration. It can occur due to stress, anxiety, illness or substance abuse.

You can give her antiemetics, to stop vomiting. Avoid cigarettes, alcohol, coffee, drugs, etc. Avoid spicy, oily, junk food.

She should take some warm beverage, soups, juice, water to replenish the electrolyte system of the body.

Help her stay away from stress, anxiety & take adequate rest. Give her vitamin supplements and nutritious food rich in calcium, protein & veggies.

Since she is vomiting & emaciated, you are suggested to get her physically examined by a GP, she needs intravenous fluids, antibiotics & support.

She should get CBC, Liver function tests, Urinalysis, Imaging tests done. Her treatment will depend upon the reports of the tests.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Nupur K, General & Family Physician
