What Causes Fatigue And Lack Of Focus While Having Bronchopneumonia?

Hello, my name is Kay. I m 37 yrs old and married for almost 4 years. I ve been very active most of my life even though I had a bout of bronchopneumonia at the early age of 5. Now I m mostly tired, and focusing has become increasingly difficult. I can sometimes read and re-read material and not understand at all what point is being brought across, or worse yet, not even remember what I ve read after an hr. I do also have migraines that started when I was approx. 13yrs old, but has become increasingly persistent over the past 5 yrs. What bothers me most however is my inability to focus, comprehend and retain in memory :(

Hello Kay,
Having bronchopneumonia at age 5 is not affecting you at age 37 unless you have underlying factors such as cystic fibrosis that was undiagnosed and I sincerely doubt this. Lack of focus, since when? Childhood? Just started? Need more details.

Have you ever been checked for sleep apnea or learning disabilities? How did you do in grade school, high school, college?

Kay, my feeling is you need a physical. A physical exam, total blood work up, have them check for anemia, iron, B12, folic acid and have your thyroid checked free T4 and TSH and reverse T3 is what I would advise for my fatigued clients.

After that, come back with results and we can talk further. Regards, Kathryn Shattler, MS,RDN
