Hi,
This sounds more like a systemic disease with neurological symptoms than a neurological disease in itself. The doctor responsible to find the reason that would be either your general practitioner, or and internist. an
endocrinologist could also be of help. Be careful if somebody diagnosis “neuropathic pain” too quickly without investigating further if there is an underlying disease, causing your symptoms.
You don’t mention if you are already taking pain medication. So until you see your doctor you can try to manage the pain with
Ibuprofen 400mg for up to max. two weeks together with
Gaviscon stomach protection. You can also add 25 mg of
Diphenhydramine, because with pain your sleep patterns might be not as structured as they should be. Diphenhydramine will make you a bit sleepy, it has anti-allergic and very specific anti-inflammatory properties, too.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Alexander Davis, General & Family Physician
