What Causes Fatigue, Fever And Bloody Mucus Filled Cough After Being On Z Pac?

My 17 year old son had a fever of 102 and vomiting and coughing 10 days ago. We went to an urgent care and they put him on z pac 5 days ago. Today his symptoms have reoccured and he is very lethargic with a fever and coughing up mucus with a trace of blood in it.cap

Hi welcome to HCM...

According to history it could be bronchitis or pneumonia like lung infective condition....

Work up needed with ....
-Auscultation (look esp rhonchi or rales if heard )
-Chest x ray
-If needed spirometry done to assess severity of bronchitis
-sputum cytology and culture if needed

According to cause further treatment guided ...
According to culture report further treatment guided ...with full course of antibiotic ..
AFB stain examination will also be done in sputum examination for rule out TB .

If inflammation more short term steroid given...
