Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Numbness is due to abnormal function of the nerves, this is called neuropathy, it can be due to different possible causes.
Some of the more common causes include-
(1) trauma to the nerves, e.g. by pressing on a nerve
(2) diabetes
(3) liver or kidney disease
(4) side effect of medication
(5) neurological diseases such as ms or stroke
(6) in some the cause is not found-idiopathic
(7) low vitamin B12 or folate
(8) thyroid disease
(9) infection such as viral infection.
The numbness may have contributed to the heart racing.
It is possible that you may have an early viral infection or the numbness may be due to compression of the nerve when you were laying down.
You can monitor for now.
I hope this helps.
