What Causes Fatigue With History Of Having Elevation In C Reactive Protein?

I have had an elevated c reactive protein for over a year. It has been up to 31 and as low as 14. Sed rate is always normal. I feel awful most of the time, achy, fatigue, etc. Prednisone pills helps the pain some but it does not disappear completely. One doctor said I might need a cat scan of my stomach and lungs to rule out cancer. Cancer runs in my family especially my Mother s side, colon, tongue, breast and lung cancer, that I know of. Thanks

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As per my clinical experience, the raised level of C reactive protein is not specific to particular entity or group of disorders, but do suggest underlying immune response to some sort of systemic insult. The fatigue might be from low hemoglobin via anemia of chronic disease or else. However, a cancer screening of age related criteria keeping in mind of family history is must to rule out any suspicious disorder.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
