What Causes Fecal Incontinence And Abnormal Behavior In A Child?
I am a second grade teacher who has a student who poos in her pants daily in class then walks around so the other students can smell her. She also puts poop in her mouth and then gets in other student's face so they can smell her breath. What could be wrong with her?
Hello thanks for asking from HCM for your health related doubts
Most children are toilet trained at about 3-4 years of age. Urinary incontinence is seen commonly but fecal incontinence is not common and needs proper evaluation.
If she has no control and she is not aware of passing faeces then most likely its faecal incontinence and she should be seen by a good surgeon. Sphincter abnormalities or any neurological issue could cause similar symptoms.
If she is passing faeces voluntarily then she is having some behavioural issue. She walks around other children so that they can smell her and also put faeces in mouth and this points more to behavioural issue. Please call her parents and advise them to take the girl to a child psychiatrist. Some times under stress children pass faeces. Autism could be other possibility.
Thanks. Take care
