What Causes Feeling Of Boil Inside Ear?

Hi, I have something that feels like a boil inside my right ear. My throat is not hurting, the right side of my face is not hurting, and I do not have a headache from it, but the inside (and outside) of my ear is in extreme severe pain to the touch right now. Today is the second day that I ve notice the pain...it is excruciating! For several years, I have had drainage from both ears, and I m always picking at them to get out the scabs. What do I do to get rid of this pain? It hurts so bad...please help now!

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Your symptoms seem to be related to an ear infection. I suggest using anti inflammatory medications such as Acetaminophen to relieve the pain. I also suggest using antibiotics ear drops for local application. Warm compresses can also be helpful in pain relief. If the symptoms continue I suggest to see an ENT specialist.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
