What Causes Feeling Of Cold Waves In Head And Arms?

Hi. During the early morning hours, I had a feeling of ..waves of coldness over my head. Almost like someone pouring cold water over my head. No sweating or fever. Lightheadedness. Cold feeling now in my arms also. Just feel funny. No pain. No rapid heartbeat. Just feel cold waves.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi there ,

Thanks for writing in.

This could be the start of a viral fever.

Other possibilities I can think of are disorders of glucose metabolism, thyroid disorders, Anaemia, Vitamin B12 or D deficiency.

Fall in blood pressure is another possibility.

In order to rule out the same I would advise you to get the following investigations done. BP check, ECG, blood investigations like Hb, TSH, Random Blood Sugar, Vitamin B12, Vitamin D levels, etc.

Hope this information was helpful to you.

Regards,
Dr. Divya Kuttikrishnan
