What Causes Feeling Of Extreme Coldness In The Body Post Alcohol Consumption?

My 65 yo husband has consumed a considerable amount of whiskey approx 12 oz of Canadian Club) in about an hour and a half. I can tell by his mannerisms that he has consumed alcohol, but he is walking fine. He now is very cold (inside his body) he says, but not to my touch. His extremities and forehead feel normal to my touch. He is able to walk around, but says he is extremely cold. He just ate dinner, brushed his teeth and has just gotten in to bed to try and warm up. Temp reads 96.6 (brushed his teeth about 25 min ago) His meds are multi vit, vit D and cholesterol med. Could this be alcohol poisoning? His pulse right now is 68.

Hi,

Thank you for your question. Yes Alcohol causes cold of extremities due to its reaction of the alcohol to the blood vessels causing the increased flow of blood the extremities. Most of alcoholism have hypothermia which may cause alcoholics to die when sleep out side due to hypothermia. = frost bite.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
