Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have what feels like a lump in my nasopharynx. Have been to my ENT and Primary, they both seem to think it s allergies. No endoscopy. (I also have muffling in both ears that they deduct is from excess fluid bilaterally and previous membrane rupture to the left 6 years ago ) I have tried every allergy med known to man. Today I woke with what i would describe as trails. Not 1970 s trails, but a literal wave that followed my line of vision, no matter where I looked, or how I turned my head. It only lasted approx 3 minutes, but enough to concern me. Thinking this could be related to fluid build up, causing imbalance/disturbance? Or should I get a scan?
I suggest you consult an ENT specialist for examination of the ears to look for evidence of fluid collection or rupture. Nasopharynx is connected to ear cavity thus a disease of the ear can go into nasopharynx and vice versa. Ear and nasopharynx are connected to ear through Eustachian tube. Improper closing and opening of the Eustachian tube can also cause symptoms described by you.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Shailja Puri, Pathologist and Microbiologist
