I feel like there is alump in my throat, down close by the collar bones. It hurts to eat food. It feels like the food is scraping it almost. Also feels like there isn t quite the room as before. The feeling is the same all day. It is not worse at any particular time (except eating). as long as I can remember I have always swallowed very loudly. I do have allergies and drainage but this is a different sensation. Please help.

Internal Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hello,

The lumpy feeling in the throat may be due to pharyngitis or acid reflux or tonsillitis or post nasal drip or granular pharyngitis etc.

Thyroid swelling or diverticulum may also present like this. Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is.

Get it done Upper GI endoscopy and oral cavity examination.

If symptoms not improved please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
