What Causes Fetal Size Being 15mm And No Growth In Sac?
i have irregular period and my cycle is around 30-45, my lmp was on 18 march 2011. I took my first pregnancy test on 29th April and it was negative, i then took my second test on 3rd May and it turned out to be positive. Went to see my gynea and he said that my sac is empty. He took my blood for HCG and the result was 1458. Went again to see him for another 2 week and he said that everything was fine. Went to see him again last weekend, he said that my baby is not growing but the fetal size is around 15mm. He suggested D&C but I wanted to wait for another two weeks. What should I do. Can ultrasound go wrong by miscalculated my due date and pregnancy week? Thank you
In a normal pregnancy, the developing embryo and gestational sac should grow over time. If there is no fetus present and the sac alone is growing, it is most likely a non-viable pregnancy. However no harm will come to you if you wait and see what happens and repeat the ultrasound. There is nothing that can be done to prevent a miscarriage and the only thing that may happen while you wait you could pass the pregnancy before you see the doctor for the next ultrasound. If you develop heavy bleeding with severe cramping, I suggest you seek medical care to re-evaluate you.
I hope this advice was helpful, and best of luck with your pregnancy.
Regards, Dr. Brown
