What Causes Fever After Dialysis?

Hi, my mom just started dialysis in June of this year, she always have a fever after she got home from dialysis but only from this center that she transfer to about 4 weeks ago. The nurse has blood tests and found everything negative, even change filter therefore we would like to know if you can give us any suggestions. Thank you

Hello, thanks for posting on HCM.
In dialysis, they need to exchange the water containing electrolytes with blood plasma. Sometimes if the water used in dialysis unit is not properly purified or contains impurities it causes fever, chills, and rigors after dialysis which goes away in a day or 2.
I would suggest you talk to the technician of dialysis to use new filter and ask them to check the water they are using for any impurities.
If none of these works, better to change the center of dialysis as it will be a problem of every dialysis and patient becomes hesitant for doing regular dialysis which causes further problems.
