Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I was tested for the viral flu twice on February 6 and February 9 with negative results. However, the clinic doctor thought I should take 75mg Tamiflu am and pm just to be safe because on Feb. 6 I had 101 degree temperature and aches all over. Now on February 9 I return to the clinic because of very sore throat and a test reveals I have strep throat. The antibiotic Azithromycin was prescribed for 2 250mg tonight and 1 250mg for 4 days. My aches and pains have gone away and I do not have a temperature. My question is Should I continue to take the Tamiflu?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
I see no reason for continuing Tamiflu. It is used when you have flu and since it resulted negative why to use it. You have tonsillitis and taking Tamiflu doesn't affect it.
Take care.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
