What Causes Fever Along With Chronic Cough And Muscle Ache?

My husband is having his second bout of Fever between 101 and 104 with a chronic cough, muscle aches and once in a while very odd statements ( from fever ?). Second bout in 3 months time. Fatigue, chills, aches all over. He is resistant to going to the doctor, but I am starting to worry. He is usually quite healthy. I just gave him tylenol, ( with much ado) but he swallowed it. Should i insist he go to a doctor ?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

You have symptoms of fever along with a chronic cough and muscle ache which is due to upper respiratory tract infection leading to a poor immune system of the body and increasing susceptibility of getting infected. Need not to worry.

I would suggest you to start preventive measures such as do warm saline gargles and take steam twice a day. Avoid use of sharp and spicy food substances and cold beverages. Take a proper course of antibiotics and anti-inflammatory medications. Your symptoms will resolve in 1 week. if symptoms keep on persisting you should consult ENT specialist and take proper treatment. You should get X-ray chest done along with routine blood investigations tests and start treatment accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
