What Causes Fever Along With Headache And Bodyache?
My 20 year old has had a fever between 99 and 102 off and on for 3 days now. Accompanied by a bad head ache and body aches. No other symptoms. Do you think it is something viral or bacterial? She has been taking 600 mgs of motrin every 4 to 6 hours for 3 days straight. Headache will not go away. Fever and body aches go away when motrin kicks in and lasts for about 4 hours. ?????

The following are few causes of fever with headache:
1) Viral fever or viral illness
2) Malaria
3) Typhoid
4) Meningitis
5) Dengue fever
6) Urinary tract infections
7) Sinusitis
8) Tonsillitis
There may be various causes to evaluate. In your daughter's case it appears to be viral illness and it takes time to subside. The following are my recommendations:
1) Take tab. Acetaminophen 650 mg every 6th hourly.
2) Take tab. Motrin only twice daily.
3) Adequate sleep and rest is required.
4) Take plenty of fluids
If fever and headache don't come down in another two days, you need to see a physician for further evaluation. Also if there are any other symptoms like burning urine, sore throat, severe cold or vomiting, you need to see a physician as soon as possible to take antibiotics.
