What Causes Fever Along With Severe Headaches?

I went to the doctor feeling like I had either the flu or a cold. I took a flu test. It turned negative, so it’s “just a cold”. Yet, it’s lasted for more than 3 weeks . On the second week though, it stopped for 3 days and came back worse but this time with fever snd intense headaches. What is wrong with me?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

We will try to help you in best way possible. First of all it's sad to know what you had been going through lately. Based on the history you have shared, you need to have X-ray paranasal sinuses to rule out sinusitis. Meanwhile OTC analgesics like acetaminophen or Ibuprofen alongwith anti histamines like Cetrizine and nasal decongestant can be helpful. Steam inhalations will also help symptomatically. Wishing you a speedy recovery.
