What Causes Fever And Backache After Blood Plasma Donation?

Hello, Donated plasma Thursday, felt fine the day before and of. (Had a huge spinach omelette right before) After the donation I slept over 13 hours and woke up with the flu. My fever hasn t broken and now, two days later, I m having back pains (possibly kidney area) and my skin feels bruised all over, with a non stop cough. I feel like I m keeping up with fluids just fine. When should I go see a doctor?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Blood donation does cause any of the your symptoms. In some people it may cause dizziness and low blood pressure. Your problems could not be attributed to blood donation. You can take paracetamol for pain. Drink plenty of water and take adequate bed rest.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
