What Causes Fever And Body Pain With Swelling In Throat?

Hi Doctor, my wife is suffering from fever and body pain from more than a week now and had a little swelling on her throat as well, and since she delivered 7months ago we had to seek our doctor who too care of her delivery to understand this high fever (around 100+ degrees in the night), however she suggested to visit a alternate doc as this is not due to post delivery effect. Other doctor advised to get the blood test and confirmed its a viral fever due to which there is a little thyroid affected as well, hence suggested Viral fever medicine which was effective for a days time and same situation now. Hence we visited one of the hospital to ensure there is not much complications in her health condition, and doctor from hospital suggested to go for Dolo 65 and its a viral fever which would gradually get reduced. I am worried if we are missing out something examining the thyroid or is the medicine prescribed right for viral fever ? once viral fever comes down, thyroid gland formed also comes down ?? Please suggest as i am very much worried about her condition. Thanks much

Welcome to HCM,

I had gone through your question and understand your concerns.


Viral fever, is a self limiting, managed with simple dolo. but in some due to it's other organ involvement ( throat swelling or sore throat) you require antibiotics.


It's very rare that viral fever causing thyroid swelling, in my opinion, it's just throat infection, will respond to antibiotics.


If your are in strong suspicion, you can go for ultrasound neck, to rule out the swelling.
