What Causes Fever And Body Sweating After Taking Azithromycin In Infants?
Hi my son is 18 months old and had a fever this past Wednesday and Thursday went away for a 24 hour period and came back sat night going into Sunday. Gave him one dose od Tylenol and was able to bring fever down. Sunday Fever went up between 104-105 no other symptoms. We took baby to the ER and they said he had an ear infection. He s been on azithromycin, this being day 2. I took his temp just now and it s 96 and he s sweating, his hair is drenched and his body feels really cool. I m really worried something other than an ear infection is going on. Any insight would be helpful. Thanks
It is common to have sweating while temperature is getting down after taking anti-pyretics. It is one of our body's different mechanisms to lower down the temperature.
If his fever is coming down, is active&playful, and is feeding as usual, nothing to be worried. Just complete the antibiotic course as suggested.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Aslam T. K., Pediatrician
