What Causes Fever And Chills During Pregnancy?

Thank you, I am 35 weeks pregnant. For the last four night and four days I have had flu like symptoms, but very extreme. I am a fourth grade teach, so I get the flue all the time, and this is much worse than average. My symptoms include the following: Fever: I start to get chills then shakes complete with teeth rattling. This last 15-30 minutes. Then I warm up and keep warming up till I have a fever any where from 100-102. I usually take Tylenol at this point. About half an hour later I will break out in a sweat with a combination of hot or cold chills for about an hour. After that point the fever goes away until about 5 hours from the start of the previous cycle, the everything starts again. Head Ache: I have an almost continual head ache that seems to require additional Tylenol, but I don t want to take any more than I m taking for the fever. Aching bones: General achiness in back and joints, but right before the fever cycle starts all bone feel sore. Cough: I have a fits of coughing that are only relieved about 50% by cough syrup. They start off raspy, but but end with chest rattling and small amounts of bloody, brown phlegm. Urine: Occasionally looks slightly pinkish in color and is slightly thicker than normal. What concerns me the most is that this is day four, and these symptoms show absolutely no sign of abating. You opinion is greatly valued! -Bernadette

Hi,
From history it seems that you have got some infection in your body either viral, bacterial ,malarial etc.
Any infection during pregnancy is not advisable.
So go for complete blood checking like TC, DC, Platelet count, MP and complete urine check up.
This will give clue regarding your infection.
After reports your Obst will go for treatment accordingly.
Take complete rest, take light diet and take plenty of water.
Ok and take care.
