What Causes Fever And Cold While Suffering From Sickle Cell Disease?
morning doc. My 3 year old daughter was diagonised of sickle cell disease recently and I started giving her folic acid, amoxycillin and hydroxyurea. Though she hasn t had any crises. But she has a cold now and had been running temperature at night only. Could it be the hydroxyurea and what can I give her. Though she hasn t complained of any pain. Just d temperature at night. Thank u. Laura
Based on the history you have shared, your daughter can go into crisis secondary to the cold and temperature. You should take her to doctor immediately and get her started on antibiotics and anti-pyretics. Plus keep very good hydration because temperature can cause fluid loss due to sweating and dehydration can trigger crisis.
Wishing her a speedy recovery. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
