Hi, may I answer your health queries right now ? Please type your query here...i had gastroenteritis sunday night and part of monday...very severe. vomiting and diarrhea... then a fever, aches Monday and part of tuesday...wednesday i started to feel better, but that evening the fever returned . I have other symptoms but a fever of 100.4 and am constipated. is it normal for the fever to be hanging on this long?
Gastroenteritis causes inflammation which is the reason for increased body temperature as fever. You need to continue anti-inflammatory and antipyretic medicines (NSAIDs) to control both inflammation and fever. Paracetamol is one such most commonly used medicine to control both. There are other such over-the-counter (OTC) NSAIDs available.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Kalpesh
