Hi & Welcome.
I appreciate your concern for your daughter's swollen face and the weight gain with
fever after taking
Omnacortil for the treatment of some body rashes.
Omnacortil is a corticosteroid which should be taken as a short course for about 5-7 days to prevent its side effects.
Swollen face and weight gain appear to be due to accumulation of fluid in body (edema) resulting in weight gain.
Other possible side effects include infection causing fever, increased blood
glucose, delayed healing of the wounds,
cataract.
I would advise you to kindly consult her treating doctor for possible gradual dose reduction of Omnacortil to reduce the swelling and the weight gain.
So, in view of a number of major side effects on long term use, Omnacotil should be used as a short burst followed by gradual reduction of the dosage to prevent adrenal crisis.
Hope I could explain the reason behind the swollen face and weight gain.
