What Causes Fever Followed By Blisters On The Shin?
Hi. I am an RN. I had cellulitis in my shin three times. Each time there was no initial injury, no open wound. Each time I had a “flu” prior. Not just flu but the first two times I was battling fevers over 39 degrees C. For days feeling so unwell I was completely unaware of time or day for about three days. I did not eat and only slept for days. The third time only fever for 24 hour. My shin broke out in a blistered rash in the same place each time. I have been treated with IV Vancomycin and Lynsolid. The ABs had little effect and my WBC never were above 7. In retrospect I wonder if this could have been recurrent shingles. I am now 51 years old and the first occurence was when I was 48. I am healthy and not Immunocompromised . I have also had awful cold sores at the same time. Is it possible to have shingles like this? The third occurrence was much less severe. My biggest concern is that now I have swelling in my ankle daily. Could I have vascular damage? My Dr says “ our bodies can do weird things” but I am concerned. I am able to keep the edema minimal by wearing compression stockings especially to work. I would be very interested in any opinions you may have.
