What Causes Fever With A Strep Throat?

My daughter tested negative for strep throat 10 days ago. We went out of town 2 days later, my daughters fever went up and later broke out in hives. A doctor prescribed amoxacillin which did not help, in fact her fever got worse and the hives spread all over her body by this time. Yesterday I took her back to her pediatrician and again a strep throat test was done. Only this time the test came out positive for strep. Arithomysin (Z pack) was prescribed. Her appetite and spirit has gotten better, but her fever continues to be present. The fever is not as high it ranges between 100.6 to 101. Why is this still happening???
