What Causes First Time Periods To Be Long?

My daughter turned 11 today and her period started last month on Jan. 22. The first period lasted eight days. Twenty-four days later she has her second period (started Feb. 15th) and has lasted fifteen days so far. I am concerned because it has lasted so long. Please advise.
