What Causes Flashes In The Field Of Vision And Headache?

my daughter (15) has recently (within the last 6 months) begun to see everything red in the top half of her vision in both eyes. It is intermittent in nature and can sometimes be just flashes She has also begun getting headaches (1-2x daily lasting about 1 hr) in one little spot about 2 inches above her left ear. I am wondering if these may be related and if it s something I need to worry about?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Because your daughter has flashes in the field of vision, it is important for her to be examined by a doctor and have slit lamp examination to rule out any retinal detachment. If retinal detachment is noticed she will need urgent treatment to prevent progression in the central visual fields.

I hope this answers your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General & Family Physician
