What Causes Flashing Lights In The Peripheral Vision And Irritation In Eye?

About two months ago, I went to an opthamologist for seeing round flashing lights that appeared at the outer corners of both eyes, several times a day. I was told it had to do with vitrious gel fluid separating from the retina, etc. It happens to some people (50yrs and older)as they age. I turned 58 last November. Recently, my left eye felt irritated and wet. Maybe from a shampoo I used the night before, or a lotion meant for tightning aging facial skin, I just started using 2 days ago. I used eye drops, for that eye, but it has not helped. The left eye has a slight fuzzones in the vision. I tried blinking it thinking it might clear it up, but it does nt help. There is a yellowish ring that appears sometimes only in the left eye. The yellowish color has happened before in the form of spots, but not often. Hopefully, this is not serious. I would appreciate a response. ...thank you. what is the problem thank you
