What Causes Flat Red Blotchy Rashes All Over Body In A Child?

My son has a flat red blotchy rash that is spreading over his body. It is itchy in some spots and not others. I gave him Benadryl and it helped stop the rash. It is now mainly isolated to his legs. I also applied hydrocortisone cream to it. Should I take him to the ER or can I wait to take him to see his pediatrician tomorrow?

Understanding your concern. As per your query your son have symptoms of flat red blotchy rashes all over body. Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like allergic reaction, angiomas , acne, eczema, psoriasis and due to certain systemic pathology. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to maintain proper hygiene. You should take antihistamine like benadryl and avoid applying any cosmetic , apply only petroleum jelly . You should consult dermatologist for proper examination . Doctor may order skin test or allergy test along with blood test . Doctor may prescribe immunosuppressants along with antibiotics and anti inflammatory and corticosteroid ointment. You should drink plenty of fluids.
