What Causes Flatulence And Constipation While On Amlodipine?

I had my amlodopine dosage increased from 5 mg/day to 10 mg/day about 3 weeks ago. Since that time, I have had daily stomach uncomfortableness, flatulence, and some constipation. It may be coincidental, but could increasing by 5mg result in these symptoms?

Hello,

I can confirm that amlodipine may indeed cause flatulence, stomach discomfort and constipation. The frequency of these side effects is not high. Most of them are actually rare. But they're possible.

Therefore increasing the dosage may be considered a potential cause of these symptoms although there is no test to ascertain that. Your doctor should try to eliminate other potential causes first before attributing your symptoms to the drug.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
