What Causes Flatulence While On Simvastatin, Januvia And Lisinopril?
I am on several meds for cholesteral, blood pressure, and diabetes. In the last 6 months, I am experiencing severe, frequent flatulence. Could this be a side effect of one or a comination of my meds? (simvastatin, januvia, lisinopril, metformin...) Is there a good remedy? This is making me reluctant to socialize much.
It is due to gastritis secondary to acid reflux. As a first line management, you can take antacids like Omeprazole or Pantoprazole for symptomatic relief. If symptoms persist, it is better to consult a physician and get evaluated.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Wishing you good health.
Thanks.
Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
