What Causes Fleshy Growth In The Mouth?

Good Morning. I noticed a fleshy growth in the mouth of my friend s baby. It is on the lower gum. It has been present since birth but became bigger and reddish this morning. It is also on the other side but that one is not inflamed. He is also running a fever. Please, what is the cause?
