What Causes Flu Like Symptoms And Eye Infection With This Absolute Lymph Reading?

HI: my Absolute Lymph went up to 5.5 (normal range is 1.0 to 3.5). I had flu like symptoms and at times have some difficulty breathing. Had a pink eye infection and had antibiotics. The blood work was taken just after these symptoms going on for several weeks. Normally in the past my Absolute Lymph reading was 3.0 to 3.6 for the last 10 years. Is this significant, or just due to the flu and pink eye? Thanks!

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Lymphocytes are a type of white cell and they are not interpreted on their own but along with the total white cell count.

Lymphocytes tend to go up in some types of infections so it is possible that the change is related to the infections mentioned but if your total white cell count is not increased, it is not likely significant.

I hope this helps
